Education vmbo project

On my initiative I’ve developed for Museum Jan Cunen (Oss, the Netherlands) -where I work as an education employee- a project for a secondary school. The project ‘Osse leerlingen maken kunstmeubels’ (pupils from Oss create art furniture) zoomed in on techniques of (contemporary) art. I made this choice because it suits vmbo pupils and the visual work made by Maartje Korstanje. I’m very proud about the educational publication that was based on this project.

art block-calender

Artist Joanneke Meester initiated to make an art block-calender with 366 artist living and working in the Netherlands. All participating artist responded to the sentence ‘I am not doing anything until I feel the need’.

The calender is not bound to a calendar year and for sale.

From 17 October – 28 November 2014 my drawing was presented at the De Nederlandse Bank (The Government Bank), together with (almost) all original art works printed in the art block-calander.

From 7 November – 7 January 2015 the drawing was presented at the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam (Public Library Amsterdam, NL).

Arno Kramer, curator, artist and former teacher at the AKI sculpture department curated the exhibition ‘From the heart’ at the Bergkerk in Deventer in collaboration with Kunstenlab Deventer (NL). Arno Kramer made a selection ‘from the heart’ of former AKI Sculpture students and AKI colleague teachers. The exhbition runs from 1 – 30 October 2011.

Rijksmuseum Twenthe

During the Summer holidays in 2011 the sculpture ‘servies voor je kop’(tableware in front of your head) is shown in Rijksmuseum Twenthe. It’s looking briljant in front of the window with garden view. The educational department made a special ‘build your own sculpture in the garden’ program, a program inspired on my sculpture.

HUP Istanbul @ SM’s

From 27 november 2010 – 6 februari 2011 the ongoing exhibition ‘cast an eye without a blush’ is at Stedelijk Museum ‘s Hertogenbosch (NL). The show by artist initiative HUP started at the Istanbul Art Pie and continuates now at SM’s. At the moment HUP is Chris Brans, Klaas Burger, Mark van den Heuvel, Marleen de Puydt, Rieneke de Vries, Germen Zoer and me! Our Istanbul Art Pie and SM’s experiences are on the blog CAST AN EYE without a blush in english!

Volkskrant Fine Art Prize 2010

Saturday 27 March at 15:00 the exhibition ‘The Nominees’ opens at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam (NL). Five young artist are nominated for the Volkskrant Fine Art Prize 2010, I’m one of them! The other nominees are : Sharon Houkema, Navid Nuur, Paulien Oltheten and Mounira Al Solh.

collecting mania

My whole life I collect things. Maybe I’m a maniac. Sometimes all these things make me angry. But often there rises a beautiful artwork out of the junk. One of my first sculptures was ‘the bloodsucker’. I created this piece in my second year at AKI Artschool.

Peilboog

On sunday 24 May group exhibition ‘Peilboog’ at Young Autonomous in Zwolle kicks off. Showing work of Chris Brans, Marisa Rappard, Rieneke de Vries and Karin Schipper. The adress is Blaloweg 2 in Zwolle (NL), 2 minutes from the highway. The exhibition entry is on saturday and sunday from 14-17 until 21 June. Don’t miss it!
